Meet M, one of my 'favouritest' (yes, I just confabulated that word; I am a Roald Dahl fan after all!) patients who has had me in tears of laughter and, of course, grief. When I asked her if I could take a picture with her and do a write up on it for a By Me Poetry theme, her immediate response was, 'Oh darling, you in your glorious colours and me so blue!' No guesses why we clicked!
She is a fighter, a survivor of cancer (twice), a well-travelled soul who has lived life with a passion and we have shared hours and hours of conversation and a bond that transcends words. When I asked her again if she was happy for me to post her picture these were her words 'Darling, I trust you with my life!'
She has given me the strength to go on; days when I have felt stumped in the face of inflammatory behaviour or just plain old nastiness (which is very infrequent, but sadly, becomes imprinted on one's heart) and never fails to tell me what a joy it is for her to catch up with me. I kid you not when I say the feeling couldn't be more mutual.
About The Author
Hi I am Faiza Khan. I am a doctor who loves to write, a thinker with an empathetic core and a romantic heart but a pragmatic soul. I am a nerd and have always been one. I'm a bibliophile and am bewitched by the beauty of nature both celestial and earthly! I have 2 boys and a husband who doesn't have a single poetic bone in his body. I find intelligence and humour hugely attractive in people along with a sensitive heart. I call myself a strong cup of chai laced heavily with satire.
